AWARD WINNING WINE

La Costaiola, formerly called "COSTA D'ALTARE", is located on the hills between Casteggio and Montebello della Battaglia, in the zone called "Oltrepo Pavese". The firm boasts very ancient origins: from the beginning of 1600 we can find information about it. In 1938 Luigi Carbone, the great-grandfather of actual owners, bought the estate and started the production of wines. In the post-war period the management of the firm was entrusted to the man who left a clear mark in the wine production of La Costaiola: Sir Carlo Carbone, the son of Luigi. Careful wine maker and attentive expert of Oltrepo Pavese wines, he reached the very first successful outcomes introducing very valuable wines on the market. Giovanni Rossetti and Mario Scrivani, the sons in law of Carlo, continue and fortify the winery, thanks to a constant innovation in the respect of the traditions.

Thanks to further purchases La Costaiola can relay today on a vine area of 12 hectares (14.351 sq. yd), located in the wonderful landscape of the Oltrepo Pavese hills.
On this area autochthonous varieties of vines are cultivated. They give to their wines peculiarity of extraordinary polish and structure, thanks to the excellent positions of the fields.

At the estate LA COSTAIOLA, there is a modern and fully equipped cellar, in which the glamorous wines, pride of the Firm, are produced keeping up the traditions. This short introduction of the Firm points out two sides apparently in contrast between them: technology and traditions, but THE MAGIC OF QUALITY can be reached only by a careful and sensible work of mediation between these two essential aspects.
